1. Open Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Click Start, Control Panel, System and Security, Administrative Tools, <\/strong>and then select Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Select the server where you want to generate the certificate<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the left Connections<\/strong> menu, select the server name<\/strong> (host) where you want to generate the request.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Navigate to Server Certificates<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the center menu, click the Server Certificates <\/strong>icon under the Security <\/strong>section near the bottom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Select Create a New Certificate<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the right Actions<\/strong> menu, click Create Certificate Request.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Enter your CSR details<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Distinguished Name Properties <\/strong>window, enter in the required CSR details <\/strong>and then click Next.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note:<\/strong>\u00a0To avoid common mistakes when filling out your CSR details, reference our Overview of Certificate Signing Request\u00a0article.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. Select a cryptographic service provider and bit length<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Cryptographic Service Provider Properties <\/strong>window, select Microsoft RSA SChannel Cryptographic Provider <\/strong>and Bit Length<\/strong> of 2048<\/strong>, then click Next.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note:<\/strong>\u00a0Bit Length: 2048 is the current industry standard. You may choose a larger key size, but only if you have a requirement to do so, as longer key lengths increase latency and may reduce compatibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7. Save the CSR<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Click Browse<\/strong> to specify the location where you want to save the CSR as a \u201c.txt\u201d file and click Finish.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

8. Generate the Order<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Locate and open the newly created CSR from the specified location you choose in a text editor such as Notepad and copy all the text including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Give this CSR file to NHS Digital and they should return certificate, that you can then generate a pfx file from. Your will need to generate a pfx file from the certificate they send you from the same server you generated the CSR from.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n","tags":[]}]}
